Lasting Moments

TIPS AND TRICKS TO CAPTURING MILESTONES

Milestone Portrait Child Portraiture Child Photography
The Wanderer

As my own children grow, its hard for me to watch a moment pass and not have it captured. There have been so many times where I have wished my camera was in my hand, knowing that that moment will forever only exist in my memory. That is where milestones come in. No matter how busy we are, I always make sure to document the big milestones. I'd love to share with you a few images from my son's 3rd birthday portrait session and give a few tips about documenting your own children's milestones, weather you are using just an iPhone, a point and shoot camera, or calling me up for some professional portraits.

01

It all started with this little boat I found someone selling online. I decided to bring this little boat to a beautiful beach or lake. Find a theme your child loves that is age appropriate. Then try and find a prop and place that fits with that theme.

02

Now that I had the darling boat, I thought about outfit choice. What did I have that would match the theme and colors of the prop I wanted to use? Think about the theme you decided on in step #1. Do you have any clothing that would compliment your theme? Stick to neutral timeless colors.

03

Go out there and start taking pictures! The hardest part is getting out the door. It doesn't take long to get to your perfect location and take some pictures with your cute outfit and prop. At Elizabeth Brodbaker Photography we make the process seamless where you can sit back and enjoy the planning process at our in person consultation and arrive at your gallery reveal of masterfully edited portraits ready to cry tears of joy at the darling moments we capture of your little one.

Here are a few images from our session I am just bursting to share.

Here I'll share some "before and after" shots. I think a lot of people do not realize that half the magic happens after the session in post processing.

That's all for now folks!
